Sail & training with the UKSA

From their waterfront site in the heart of the yachting world, UKSA are training the future leaders of superyachting.

UKSA, of Cowes, Isle of Wight, has a diverse range of exciting and challenging courses to choose from for those intent on a career at sea. The youth education and maritime training academy offers much more than just the courses and qualifications though.

You will find an evolving curriculum with different entry and exit points, depending on your skill level, timescale, goal and budget.

Added bonuses are the unique environment of UKSA, exceptional opportunities through a focus on both practical and life skills, impressive career mentoring and a job placement service.

You will find courses accredited by RYA, MCA and PYA, so you can be assured of quality tuition, and all accommodation and food are included in the course fees. Bursaries are also available to the right candidates.

The three-year cadetship has paid placements so you can earn while you learn, and on this course you can train to be an officer on the largest superyachts (the course leads towards Officer of the Watch 3000gt).

The newly-packaged Professional Yacht Master course (23 weeks in its entirety) offers more flexibility than ever before and encompasses basic training, Yacht Master core training and advanced training.

An ideal entry level course is the Crew Training programme which gives people the skills and experience needed to work as a deckhand on luxury sail or motor yachts.

Or become a Professional Yacht Engineer by gaining the internationally recognised qualifications to start a career as a junior engineer, either afloat or in a shore-based capacity.

The Superyacht Marine Hospitality courses see students qualify as cook, steward or stewardess with the skills to deliver exceptional standards of service onboard, and there are intermediate level courses for those looking to top up existing skills to take their career further within the highly professional superyacht industry.

Or you can train to become a Watersports Instructor and work in the world's top resorts and centres. Part of this course is taken in Egypt and there are options available that include work placements and a guaranteed first season’s work.
