World’s largest aluminium yacht under construction at Royal Huisman

The construction of the 81m / 266ft contemporary three-masted schooner has commenced at the shipyard’s facilities in Vollenhove. This new build project for an Asian client was unveiled by the joint team of Royal Huisman, Dykstra Naval Architects, designer Mark Whiteley and Bart Kimman of Northrop & Johnson Asia at the 2016 Monaco Yacht Show.

What does one think of when cruising in the Mediterranean during the summer? Warm, relaxing days? Exciting nightlife? Sure, these things and more are common, but how about weather? While the weather tends to be less active during the summer than in other times of the year, traveling in this part of the world does not come without its weather “pitfalls”. Whether it’s Levantes along the east coast of Spain or Mistrals in the south of France and Gulf du Lion, the weather can be quite volatile and changeable in the Mediterranean this time of year as well.

In this article, we will examine the various weather phenomena in the Mediterranean during the spring and summer months as well as the winds and seas these phenomena bring. Lürssen launched project Thunder

On Monday April 3rd Lürssen launched project Thunder - a 120 m plus yacht, designed by Espen Oeino. She launched from the floating dock 24 months after her keel was laid in 2015.
